Would leaving Instagram make us happier?

[ad_1]

This week on Why did you press this button?we try to find happiness. Kaitlyn Tiffany turns off her Instagram account, I support her, and then we talk with other people who have tried to remove the app. Most of them say that Instagram made them feel bad, that they took too much time or that, in the case of Kaitlyn, made her sad after a breakup.

We are talking to one of my hottest friends, Ryan Curtis, about how he and his wife quit Instagram one day, just to see if they could get away with it. We then discuss with Musa Nyangiwe, an influencer who resigned, as well as Justina SemĨenkaitė, another influential who left the platform.

With their stories in context, we argue with Sarita Schoenebeck, an associate professor at the University of Michigan, who has studied why people have abandoned a separate platform – Twitter – for a brief period. Finally, Maggie Stanphill, Director UX at Google, talks about the company's Digital Wellbeing platform and explains how the company wants to give users tools to control the use of their technologies.
