The Yankees New York Double-A team probably did not make friends on the Hartford Yard Goats with this move.
Matt Lipka of Trenton Thunder broke a player without a Yard Goats opponent with a goal in the ninth in a single. This game may be considered by some as a breach of one of the unwritten rules of baseball, although the match – won 3-0 by the Yard Goats – was not an eruption.
The center field player threw a ball on the first pitch that he saw closer, Ben Bowden, and beat him for a single.
Apparently, Hartford was not happy with the game, as both benches were cleared at the end of the match, there was no fight.
Hartford star Rico Garcia is associated with Bowden and two other substitutes for 16 offensive shots and no goals for the Yard Goats in the Eastern League game Tuesday night. The only other base riders to visit Trenton were Chris Gittens, who made a mistake in the field in the fifth inning, and Lipka, who had a field error in the sixth.
