About 50 people were treated at a hospital for nosebleeds and vomiting after a pump malfunction and overloaded with chlorine in a community pool. According to the Pleasant Grove Police Department, the victims were at the Pleasant Grove Veterans Memorial Pool and were going from young children to adults.
"A disproportionate amount of chlorine was put in the water because of a pump failure," said Capt Britt Smith at Gephardt Daily. Smith said the victims had bloody noses, nausea, vomiting and some people were losing consciousness, according to Gephardt Daily.
"Every time we have a critical incident with many casualties, it's a very bad day for us," he said, according to the media. "But the first responders came in and were very, very good. They immediately evacuated the pool. They quickly organized a triage and all were quickly transported. Even though it was chaotic, it was handled very professionally. "
