The board of directors of the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) announced Tuesday that it was going to fire a teacher who had launched Twitter during a campaign about illegal immigrants. The council said it voted 8-0 to terminate Georgia Clark's contract.
Clark has posted a series of tweets to President Trump from a now deleted Twitter account. Clark attempted to denounce the school district because it was "loaded with illegal students from Mexico," she writes in a tweet, according to CBS DFW.
"Carter Riverside High School has been taken care of by them," Clark wrote to Trump. "The drug traffickers are on our campus and nothing has been done to them."
Clark asked the president for a contact at Fort Worth "who should actively investigate and eliminate the illegals that are in the public school system". The teacher admitted the tweets, reports CBS Dallas Fort Worth.
CBS DWF reporter Erin Jones shared screenshots of several tweets sent by Clark to the president.
FWISD Superintendent Kent Scribner sent the offending tweets in a message to parents last week. "There has been a lot of talk in the news and on the internet about the use of social media by our staff," wrote Scribner. "Our mission is to prepare ALL students for success in college leadership, career and community.Let me reiterate our commitment that every child in the district is welcome and should be treated with dignity and respect. "
Clark may appeal the decision to the Texas Education Agency Commissioner within the next 15 days.
