SALT LAKE CITY – Donovan Mitchell spent some time in China in the low season. He hopes to do it again this year.
Utah Jazz's star goalie plans to compete in the USA Basketball minicamp in August for the FIBA World Cup in China.
Marc Stein of the New York Times first reported Mitchell's name was "growing" to be on the list. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported on Wednesday that Mitchell was actually going to be minicamp with the intention of being part of the final list.
Mitchell averaged 23.8 points, 4.2 assists and 4.1 rebounds pulling 36.2% of the 3-point range during his second season in the NBA.
Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum of Portland, Bradley Beal of Washington, Anthony Davis of New Orleans, James Harden and Houston, Houston Guards, Jayson Tatum of Boston, Khris Middleton of Milwaukee and Kyle Kuzma of the Lakers are also on the program.
The training camp will be held August 5-8 in Las Vegas. The World Cup will be held from August 21st to September 15th in China.
