A first breathtaking trailer for Brad Pitt's supernatural adventure, "Ad Astra," was finally released, teasing a frantic race through the depths of space.
And … have we just seen a space elevator?!
Pitt interprets Roy McBride, an astronaut who travels to the four corners of the solar system to find his missing father (Tommy Lee Jones) and solve a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. The trailer puts the release of the film on September 20th.
According to the summary, his journey will reveal secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.
Director James Gray says Collider that the film will present "the most realistic representation of space travel put into a film". He also described it as "a kind of genre, if you have 'Apocalypse Now' and '2001' in a giant mash-up and you put a little [Joseph] Conrad on the inside. "
"Ad Astra" means "to the stars" in Latin. It is often used as a shortcut for "Ad Astra per Aspera"(To the stars through the difficulties).
The film also stars Liv Tyler, Donald Sutherland and Ruth Negga and will be released on September 20, after a delay due to Disney's takeover of Fox.
