METALLICA guitarists James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett performed the American national anthem before being heard today (Wednesday, June 5) as Warriors of the state of the gold welcomed the Toronto Raptors for the third match of N.B.A. final at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The Canadian national anthem was played by Tenille Arts. The game continues ABC in the United States and Sportsnet in Canada.

Hetfield and Hammett also performed the anthem before San Francisco Giants baseball games and San Jose Sharks hockey games. Hammett told ESPN.com that he feels that the version of the national anthem that they interpret is "really unique and different".

The last pair made it during the seventh edition "Metallic night" on April 26 at Oracle Park in San Francisco as a giants took the field against the New York Yankees. Drummer Lars Ulrich launched the first ceremonial launch and the group also announced the team lineups.

METALLICA is currently on a European tour spring / summer that started on May 1 in Lisbon, Portugal and will visit a total of twenty countries, ending in Mannheim in Germany on August 25th.
