Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., cleared her newly formed alliance with Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, in hopes of tackling anti-lobbying legislation, calling their partnership " super-bizarre "but also expressing optimism.
Last week, lawmakers made waves on social media after finding a ground of agreement on the ban on former congressmen becoming lobbyists, so Cruz extending a branch Legislative of the olive tree.
Ocasio-Cortez and Cruz managed to expand their alliance by recruiting the efforts of Senator Brian Schatz of D-Hawaii and Rep. Chip Roy of R-Texas.
Addressing young Turks, the New York MP confirmed that her office was communicating with Cruz's office.
"Our legislative teams meet," Ocasio-Cortez said. "So we'll see where we can push that."
The new legislator explained that she was trying to crack down on "obscure loopholes of money," noting that only 2% of the 60% of former members of the 115th Congress who had been lobbying were "registered lobbyists" .

"I'm eager to see where and how far they would be willing to act, but I'm encouraged," Ocasio-Cortez said. "I think there is some leeway here.It's super weird, really weird.Never in my life I would have thought that one of my first efforts would be to sides of Ted Cruz. "
"I think it really shows the true spirit of non-partisan," she continued. "And this bipartisanship does not mean that we go together to go to war and reduce the taxes of the rich.
