In an interview with Fox News, in which Trump was questioned about what Politico reported, the president went to the California Democrat, calling him a "nasty, vindictive and horrible person."

CNN contacted Pelosi's office to comment on Trump's remarks.

The interview took place on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of D-Day, while Trump was at the American American Cemetery in Normandy, France, where American soldiers who died during the Second World War are buried.

This is the second time that he describes a woman as "nasty" or "nasty" recently, after using this term to refer to Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex.

Trump called Pelosi "terrible person" and "disaster" and said that he called her "Nervous Nancy" "because she is a nervous wreck".

Trump said that if he had "made a statement about anyone" while he was abroad, he would be criticized.

He added that Ms. Pelosi "should focus" on her home neighborhood in California, where there would be "addicts", "needles everywhere" and "people living in the middle of the streets".
