The "press conference on E3" as an industrial institution has faded since Nintendo brilliantly aired its first E3 Nintendo Direct in 2012. What were they good for? How strange were they? Why did I keep going to them? I think about these questions in this video.
The E3 2019 will be the eighteenth E3 in which I participate and I can not help feeling sentimental every time I hear the words "E3 press conference". At the time, it took hours to download a two-minute trailer, create a website, and post blogs. Running out of my bank account to go to Los Angeles seemed like an effective way to remove the middlemen. interposed between me and my egoistic desire for new information about video games.
Some of my best adult memories are those of the loud laughter that my friends and I produced, over there, in person, when such a clumsily recited the jargon of a company on a teleprompter.
If we measure the quality of laughter, the best day of my life may have been the day I was given a free backpack at the bizarre and disastrous press event of Nokia, N-Gage.
I can not believe I managed to get through this video without talking about N-Gage.
In closing: today, it is my 40th birthday. I spent eighteen of my adult birthdays either at E3, either to fly to E3, or to prepare for E3. This year, I publish a video on E3.
Maybe I should retire from Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aimé as a sign that this fifth decade of my life is one where I should stop going to E3.
After only this one more. Or maybe I should try to do the same twenty.
