Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson would have broken.
The leader of the Coldplay group, 42, told his friends that their relationship ended last month, according to The Sun.
"There was talk of commitment, but now he says that they broke up, which was a real surprise for everyone," a source told the newspaper.
The musician was originally linked to the 29-year-old star of "Fifty Shades of Gray" last January, after being seen together at a fashion show.
Although they usually remain silent about their relationship, the paparazzi sometimes caught both.
The couple also sealed their love for each other to the ink when they were tattooed each – a small infinite crossed sign with two little X's – in September.
Johnson spoke about their love story soon after, simply saying, "I am very happy."
The two have even joined Martin's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow in the Maldives and her husband Brad Falchuk to celebrate Christmas and the new year.
Johnson also spent time with Goop's founder in social contexts without Martin.
The representatives of Martin and Johnson did not immediately return our request for comment.
