England will face Australia in the World Cup semi-finals on Thursday, after Aaron Finch's teams have been outscored by South Africa in a thriller at Old Trafford.
Australia lost 10 points in the last group match of the competition and will head to Edgbaston to face England, while India, the group's winner, will face New Zealand at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
"It's going to be a blockbuster," said Australian captain Finch. "It does not get much bigger than England against Australia in the semifinals of the World Cup.
"The fans are always entertaining (Edgbaston), it will create a fantastic atmosphere."
Australia, beating 326 to win the win, sank to 95-3 and lost Usman Khawaja because of a hamstring problem, but David Warner's influential century gave the defending champions the hope of a victory.
Box office goaltender Alex Carey opened the scoring in the last 10 overruns, scoring a fine of 85, but, with 51 needed out of 28 balls, he failed, and Australia did not regain his momentum.
The total of South Africa had been established by a ton of Captain Faf du Plessis and 95 of Rassie van der Dussen.
Australia, meanwhile, will travel to Birmingham with concerns over the injuries of three key players.
Khawaja returned after his departure at the start of Australia's innings, but he could barely run, Marcus Stoinis was being cared for while he was hitting and Mitchell Starc seemed to feel some discomfort during the bowling.

Australia, who also face England in the World Cup Ash Series, watched the bad weather on the field – which England will not go unnoticed.

De Kock was superb behind the stumps, affecting a bold exit from Stoinis by placing the ball on the stumps, and he was successful in dismissing the dangerous Glenn Maxwell.
While their death game is a source of concern – Chris Morris was whipped for 17 points by Starc and Khawaja on day 48 – they finally kept the courage to secure a consolation victory.
"India will be happy to have won today," they said.
