So, smart watches that can already monitor your health could help you one day connect to Facebook or catch up in your work when you walk or ride in an Uber?

"This is by far the weirdest design of smart watches and it has not been done by Apple," says The Asian Age.

According to the LetsGoDigital technical website, Big Blue has acquired intellectual property protection for a "variable displacement size for an electronic display device".

The patent was released in June and was unveiled Monday.

LetsGoDigital has released several different images that show how Big Blue's could work.

The smartwatch includes up to eight panels that unfurl in a 12-inch-by-8-inch display from a starting point of 3 inches by 2 inches, according to British technology news website The Inquirer.

"[T]It's a big enough tablet to hold with both hands and even less attached to your wrist, "Inquirer notes.
