According to the LetsGoDigital technical website, Big Blue has acquired intellectual property protection for a "variable displacement size for an electronic display device".
The patent was released in June and was unveiled Monday.
LetsGoDigital has released several different images that show how Big Blue's could work.

The smartwatch includes up to eight panels that unfurl in a 12-inch-by-8-inch display from a starting point of 3 inches by 2 inches, according to British technology news website The Inquirer.
