In the docs, county prosecutors said the federal authorities were concerned that if they sued Offset for possession of firearms, they would have to look into information relating to a larger investigation. Prosecutors do not disclose the content of the investigation, but say that prosecuting the case "would alert other potential future parties to the investigation and bring evidence that could support the investigation. federal charges against those parties ".

TMZ broke the story … Offset was slapped with a possession of felony firearms bill in April. These are the latest fallout from his arrest last summer in Atlanta. He was also facing two separate charges: possession of grass and illegal lane change, two minor offenses.

In the documents, obtained by TMZ, prosecutors said that ATF agents had contacted agents from Clayton County, asking them to park the Offset vehicle, if there was a probable cause, and to identify all passengers.

Prosecutors say the probable cause was not to keep his lane and windows tinted. ATF simply wanted to know who was in the vehicle – but when Clayton Co. agents felt the smell of weeds, they decided to search the car … leading to the arrest of Offset for possession of firearms.

As we told you at first, Offset's lawyer stated that he thought the rapper was targeted because he was rich, successful and black. On the basis of these new documents, however, Offset could have an even bigger problem … with the federal government.
