Warrior News: Willie Cauley Stein gets a two-year contract with an option

The details of Willie Cauley-Stein's contract with the Golden State Warriors were revealed. According to a Shams Charania report from The Athletic and Stadium, Cauley-Stein has been awarded a two-year contract worth $ 4.4 million.

Cauley-Stein will have a player option in the second year of the deal.

The player option is interesting for Cauley-Stein, who got a much smaller contract than expected in free mode. In a dead season when Frank Kaminsky, Enes Kanter and Robin Lopez all received about $ 5 million a year, it was amazing that Cauley-Stein barely had the minimum.

However, according to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, the four-year veteran would have had bigger offers. But they were not as big as he hoped, so he took advantage of a discount to join a good situation.

If he's spending a good year at Golden State, Cauley-Stein can retire and cash in a bigger salary elsewhere. Again, if he fights or suffers an injury, he has the security of a second year to which he can subscribe.

The Warriors will rely heavily on Cauley-Stein this season. Shortly after signing, they traded Damian Jones against power forward Omari Spellman. Cauley-Stein and Kevon Looney are the only true centers of Warrior alignment.
