Apple CEO Tim Cook has met with Donald Trump at least five times over the past year with the desperate aim of keeping the US president in charge while running a trade war with China.
Cook led a charm offensive with Trump, whose last installment took place on Friday, when the two men sat down to dinner while the president was on a working vacation at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey .
"Dinner tonight with Apple's Tim Cook, they will spend huge amounts of money in the US Super!" Trump tweeted on Friday night.
We know for the fifth time that the two men have been meeting since last August, and these meetings coincided with the intensification of trade tensions between the United States and China. This is not good news for Apple, which relies on Chinese manufacturing to manufacture its most lucrative products, including iPhones and iPads.
Cook and Trump met for the last time in June, in addition to the discussions held in April and March of this year, the latest being Trump nicknamed Cook "Tim Apple". Trump and Cook also sat in August 2018.

Between these five meetings, Cook is also involved in other White House initiatives. In February of this year, he joined the US Advisory Committee on Trump's Manpower Policy. In November 2018, Apple's CEO promoted teaching science, technology, engineering and math by visiting an Idaho school with Ivanka Trump.
It seems that the open dialogue between Cook and Trump has benefited Apple. The Trump administration announced this week that Apple's MacBooks and iPhones would benefit from a temporary stay of the 10% tariff it introduces on some products imported from China. This allowed Apple to earn 4% of the shares on Tuesday.
The stay coincided with Apple 's release Thursday of a press release in which it boasted of its contribution to the US economy – an announcement that could have elicited Trump' s commentary about the US economy. business "spending large sums of money" in America. In this release, Apple announced it has spent $ 60 billion from US suppliers last year to support 450,000 jobs.
Cook has already been optimistic about the resolution of the trade war. "I'm optimistic because trading is one of those things where it's not a zero-sum game, you know that you and I can trade something and we both can win. optimistic that both countries will solve this problem and life will continue, "he said in September.
