The Bugatti Centodieci is a 1,578 HP tribute to the EB110

The Bugatti Centodieci may have gone early, but the company has officially unveiled the new hypercar at Pebble Beach.

Starting with performance specifications, the Centodieci features an 8.0-liter W16 engine producing 1,578 horsepower (1,176 kW / 1,600 hp). That's 99 hp (74 kW / 100 hp) more than the Chiron.

Thanks to its extra power, the model can accelerate from 0 to 62 km / h in just 2.4 seconds. If you hold the accelerator down, 124 km / h (200 km / h) will arrive in 6.1 seconds, while 186 km / h (300 km / h) will come 7 seconds later. With enough space, the Centodieci will eventually reach the 380 km / h (236 mph).

The performance does not stop there because the Centodieci weighs 20 kg (44 lb) less than the Chiron. This has been made possible by a set of modifications, including the use of a lightweight wiper and stabilizers constructed of carbon fiber. Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Bugatti, said: "Increased power and reduced weight further improves performance – for even better acceleration at higher speeds."

A bold new look that embraces the past

Since the car was inspired by the EB110, introduced in 1991 on the occasion of Ettore Bugatti's 110th birthday, it has a unique design reminiscent of the classic supercar. Design Director Achim Anscheidt said it was a challenge: "Carrying that classic look into the new millennium without copying it was technically complex, to say the least. We had to create a new way to combine the complex aerothermal requirements of the underlying Chiron technology with a completely different aesthetic appearance. "

Despite the challenges, the car seems phenomenal because it successfully combines some stylistic elements of Chiron and EB110. On the front, the model adopts a smaller horseshoe grille and horizontal fins that refer to those used on the EB110. The car is also equipped with a new front cutter and a hood optimized for aerodynamics. In addition, the Centodieci is equipped with thin LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights.

The distinctive style continues to grow as designers have adopted the EB110's wedge-shaped design by installing angled A-pillars that meet a flatter roof. The Centodieci also has a unique bodywork that includes the vent holes used on the EB110 and a more prominent rear-facing shoulder line. As the side scoops of Chiron were eliminated, they were replaced by five round air intakes reminiscent of those used on the EB110 SS.

Much of the car is inspired by the EB110, but the rear is unique to Centodieci. It features a ventilated fascia, a massive diffuser and a sport exhaust system with four stacked exits. The model also has floating taillights and a massive rear wing that helps improve the strength of support.

Production will be limited to ten and only two will be delivered to customers each year. Despite this and a price of $ 8.9 million, the ten units have already been sold.
