Nate Diaz is ready to put his eponymous title – "The Worst Mothef * cker of the game" – on the front line against Jorge Masvidal.
After defeating former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis in the second main event of UFC 241, Diaz set fire to social media when he called Masvidal, one of the best most recognizable fighters of the UFC training since Ben Askren's viral coup de grace.
Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Diaz then explained why he felt as if Masvidal was a worthy challenger.
"You have to recognize who is the best and who is the best in the game … and that's not what they say, that's what I say," said Diaz at media.
"These are the guys who have been here forever and always on top. Pettis just knocked out Thompson who was fighting for the 170 title several times. He fought Pettis and Pettis stunned his ass very quickly. Who is the real bad guy in Division 170? They were trying to pump dude and then Masvidal goes and knocks him out. I started fighting in 2004, I think … I think … and then he's been around since then and maybe a little longer. He just did that and I just did that, so he's the best fighter for me; the best martial artist who is always on top of the game. "
Diaz is adamant that he will not be responsible for not setting up the fight as quickly as possible, insisting that he would be ready to fight it in a month.
"If everything goes as planned, then I will fight next month," he said. "If nobody is in a hurry to do it, do it right and treat it as if it were supposed to be treated, I'm in no hurry. It will not be me who will sit outside; it's going to be them who tend me or people do not jump on it and try to do it. This is where I have been for three years because I have never stopped training camps. Nobody showed me anything as the best fighter in the world, what I am, just like Masvidal, that's what I say. "
"Why does not anyone look like, what?" It's the guy to fight, he just beat the best guy and he's doing it from the beginning. "I'm the best martial artist in the world, I'm not like those who care about you, the wrestlers who will keep you and hopefully win a round and find a way out to win those fights and put the belt on the waist, "he added. "Now we are fighting for the most wicked gaming belt in the game" and this is mine … I would like to defend her against Jorge Masvidal. The wicked mothers, that's how we're going to do that. "
Diaz also did not rule out a future trilogy with Conor McGregor.
"If it works with the calendar [I’m interested]. I am going to fight against the most naughty guy of the ugliest shows that people want to see. That's what I want to do, so it's up to everyone to participate. If that's what they want to do, they have to call me and tell me that they want it. "
