Cedric Benson, a great Texas Longhorn football player, was reportedly killed in a motorcycle accident

Cedric Benson, a former University of Texas football player and former NFL player, died Saturday night in a motorcycle accident in West Austin, family members and friends said on Sunday.

Emergency officials in Austin told the American statesman that they were investigating the accident that occurred in 5600 block, Mount Bonnell Road, after 22 hours. Benson, a half-half who played for the Longhorns from 2001 to 2004, racked up the second-highest rush in the program's history and broke the 1,000-yard mark in each of his four seasons. He won the Doak Walker Award as the country's best running back in his senior season in 2004. The following year, the Chicago Bears took him to 4th place in the NFL final standings. Benson played eight seasons in the league and played for the last time in 2012 with the Green Bay Packers.
