Chicago Bears rookie WR Riley Ridley made his preseason debut on Friday against the New York Giants. Although his boxing score did not move much, his performance on the field earned him good grades.
Ridley played 28 games, including 21 on assists. According to Pro Football Focus, Ridley has been effective in the eight ongoing games in which he was involved. His score of 79.2, which blocked the race, was the best of all Chicago offensive players.
In total, PFF awarded Ridley a score of 64.6, the sixth best offensive.
Ridley ended the game with three catches for 19 yards, but his run was smooth and effortless. As he gets used to the speed of the NFL, he should only become more efficient.
The Bears have a deep and talented receiver corps led by Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller and Taylor Gabriel. Javon Wims played an important role in the role of WR4, with Ridley as the most likely candidate to occupy fifth place on the list of active players.
Ridley joined Chicago as a fourth-round draft pick in the NFL draft in 2019 after playing his college ball in Georgia. As a Bulldog, he was not an extremely productive receiver, largely because of the number of talented offensive weapons he had deployed throughout his stay there.
He finished 2018 with 43 catches for 559 yards and nine touchdowns.
