Reports have long claimed that problems between Prince William and Prince Harry first appeared at the time the Duke of Sussex proposed to Meghan Markle. Prince William would not have supported the pledge, telling his brother that things were moving too fast.
Although Prince William was criticized for the alleged words, he would have had a good reason to formulate them. A royal expert said in a new documentary that Prince William and Middleton hardly knew Markle – because Prince Harry barely knew her.
More on what the royal expert said
Ingrid Seward, royal expert and editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, opened in the documentary, William & Harry: Princes At War.
Seward claimed that the ultra-fast commitment of November 2017 had simply shocked the Cambridges. After all, only 16 months after Prince Harry and Markle had started dating. (Prince William and Middleton stayed together for about eight years before tying the knot.) So Prince William apparently did not try to be mean. He simply wanted to make sure Prince Harry made the right decision.
"It was so fast that William and Kate did not have time to get to know Meghan because Harry barely knew Meghan," said Ingrid Seward in the documentary (via The Sun).
"And of course, William and Kate would have naturally thought," Oh, she's already been married, she's older than Harry, I hope she'll make him happy. " Anyone would think so, "Seward continued.
Markle and producer Trevor Engelson were married from 2011 to 2013. They have been together for over eight years before deciding to quit. Meghan filed for divorce in August 2013, citing irreconcilable differences.
The reported reaction of Prince Harry to his brother was not happy
According to People, Prince William's remarks made Prince Harry feel "angry and hurt." The Daily Mail adds that these emotions then exploded.
The speech would have knocked out Prince William and Middleton. In response, the Cambridges would have "assured Harry that they were happy to offer more support to his wife".
Middleton then brought the couple's flowers. She and Markle also traveled to Wimbledon together.
How are they now?
Reports say that the four are much better now that they live separately. Royal insiders told People in July that the distance allowed them more time to look like family.
"They all know what's at stake, and William and Harry know that their grandmother [Queen Elizabeth] in particular needs to be on the same page, "continued the same source.
Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor also helped bring them together.
In July, Vanity Fair reported that relations between brothers were "much better" after Archie's arrival.
In the meantime, a source said HELLO! Magazine (via the Daily Mail) that things are so cool between Middleton and Markle.
"Kate was a great source of support for Meghan in the days leading up to Archie's birth. Despite breaking rumors, they are a family and have a very beautiful friendship. Their relationship has certainly evolved over time and they have tightened since the marriage of Meghan, "said the insider.
"They talk and text regularly. They have more in common and Kate wanted to make sure that Meghan would feel welcome in the family, "continued the insider.
We are happy to hear it. Keep your fingers crossed and hope things stay that way.
