MEDINAH, Ill. – For the second year in a row, Jordan Spieth will not be in East Lake.
The winner of the 2015 Tour Championship and the FedExCup Champion saw his season end Sunday at Medinah.
Unlike last year, he missed just one place at 31 years old.st in the standings, Spieth was a little more resigned to his situation.
"It's not like last year, when it stung in the end," said Spieth, 44.th in the points race. "I did not do the work I needed all season to put myself in position."
His shot on the ground became the story of his season. The triple major winner was 183rd in wins: starting this year and 147th under approach. Without the third most shot on the Tour by putting, Spieth would not have accumulated four top-10s, including three in three weeks. The putter kept him competitive.
"It's about the same all year. It's easy enough to deal with, "he said. "I'm too inconsistent in the long match.
"I know exactly why I took my foot, what happened and how to recover it. I know why my swing is gone. I started to understand the next step to go back. The next step is to make sure that one of the best ball strikers in the world – as I have been in the past – remains consistent.

Spieth says he's eager to make changes and refine his momentum over the next five to six weeks. As for his fall schedule, he did not provide more detailed information than his desire to return to Asia. He was not ready to say when or where he would play, but he seemed very conscious of the fact that the expanded autumn schedule would force him to make his debut. Last January in Torrey Pines, he had only six FedExCup points.
"It's too late when we talk about going to East Lake," he said. "I hope that next season, I will be able to get a better start and give me a little house to play."
With regard to the Presidents Cup in December, Spieth is 27th in the US standings, with the automatic qualifying ending Sunday. He has been a member of every US international team since 2013 and has a combined record of 14-10-3.
"I'm going to touch the base with [captain Tiger Woods] and see what he thinks, "said Spieth. "I think that by then, I will be back to the level of play I was expecting.
"I do not necessarily feel like I deserve [a pick]but I also feel that I can certainly help the team a lot. That's how I'm supposed to think, right? We will see what happens. "
