Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy is under investigation after threatening to fire "right away" any employee who has discussed unionization, according to a report.
The National Labor Relations Council has launched an investigation into whether the founder of the sports site had unlawfully tried to dissuade his workers from joining a union after his remarks drew the attention of the representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, according to the Hollywood Report.
"If you're a boss who tweets threats of dismissal against employees trying to unionize, you're probably breaking the law and you can be sued," in your words, "on the spot" wrote Ocasio-Cortez.
The battle of Portnoy with Ocasio-Cortez and other union supporters began last week when he reacted to the recent formation of a syndicate at a competitive sports store.

He then shared a 2015 article about Gawker workers who voted for unionization in which he wrote, "I can not tell you how much I want them to unionize. Just so I can break their little union.

The offer prompted Portnoy to embark. "If you work for @barstoolsports and DM, this man, I'll fire you on the spot," Portnoy retaliated Tuesday.
The Committee for the Preservation of Religious Trade Union Rights then lodged charges with the NLRB against Portnoy, asking him to "tweet and publish his serious and sincere apology".
The case that calls Portnoy "mad president" will force the federal agency to gather evidence and to take affidavits of parties and witnesses, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
But Portnoy has a few words of choice in response to the survey.
"Then they sue for an apology felt by the heart?" tweeted on Friday. "Is that really what I just read? What do you say about that? Go make yourself fk. Case closed.
