Moments after Cedric Benson crushed his motorcycle in a van Saturday, several passersby braked suddenly and rushed to the scene to try to save the life of the NFL's ex-star, says a new video.
Raw images are illustrations, so we do not publish them. We instead cut out screen shots showing the efforts being made to rescue Cedric and his passenger … with a person even using a fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames of the old come back.
As previously reported, Benson and his passenger were driving a BMW motorcycle on a popular highway in Austin, Texas, around 10:20 pm. when he collided with a white van.
In new images obtained by TMZ SportsYou can see that at least 6 cars parked near the crash and a handful of people rushed to Cedric for help.
The video shows Cédric's motorcycle on fire against the door of the minivan side driver, completely in flames. Cedric and his passenger are on the road nearby.
The person who filmed the video notes that no emergency staff member had arrived at the time the video was shot – you do not see any flashing light.
A good Samaritan caught a fire extinguisher and took care of Benson, who seemed to be burning from the wreckage.
Firefighters and rescue arrived shortly after – but it was too late. Benson and his passenger were declared dead on the spot by law enforcement officials. No cause of death has been officially published.
Benson, 36, unfortunately posted a picture of his bike on Instagram a few hours before the accident, saying, "My Saturday night".
We contacted the Austin Police Department to share his comments on the new footage. They say that they will have more details about the crash later on Monday.
History in development …
