HBO Max has acquired the rights to Let them all talk, a new Steven Soderberg film starring Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen, Dianne Wiest, Lucas Hedges and Gemma Chan. The production is already underway in New York on the photo, which was written by Deborah Eisenberg.
The film (Let them all talk is a working title) tells the story of a famous author (Streep) who went with old friends to have fun and heal old wounds. His nephew (Hedges) comes to talk with the ladies and finds himself involved with a young literary agent (Chan).
Gregory Jacobs produces, with Ken Meyer and Joseph Malloch, executive producers. Filming began last week in New York and will continue aboard Queen Mary 2 and the UK.
This is Soderbergh's latest project to be installed in a streamer. The laundromat, his drama on the Panama Papers which also counts Streep in an overall cast, is taken from Netflix, just like Big flying bird that he ran this year at Slamdance. He also recently signed to produce a project for Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman's short video platform, Quibi.
"This is the kind of project you just said yes, sign me up," said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, in a statement announcing the deal. "Working with Steven Soderbergh and this cast of actors led by Meryl Streep is thrilling and sets the standard for the features of HBO Max."
