Apple is committed to spending more than $ 6 billion on original TV shows and movies for its next Apple TV + service, according to a report released by the Financial Times on Monday.
Previously, Apple was expecting its original content-driven streaming service to be launched in the fall, and the report says Apple plans to bring its online service in the next two months , before the launch of Disney + on November 12th.
The report underscores Apple's willingness to spend significantly to create enough original content to break into the competitive market of streaming services that ultimately include Netflix, Disney, NBCUniversal and Amazon.
Apple also sells Apple Channel, a related but separate product that allows users to individually subscribe to services such as HBO and Showtime and consolidate them into its television application.
Apple revealed TV + at a high-profile event in March on its Cupertino, Calif. Campus, confirming at least seven series for the service, including shows produced by Steven Spielberg and Oprah Winfrey. However, no release date or price for the service has been disclosed by Apple.
Apple plans to spend $ 9.99 a month on TV +, which is $ 3 more than Disney +, according to a Bloomberg report.
On Monday, Apple released a trailer for "The Morning Show," a drama that will air on Apple's streaming service. Apple has paid more per episode for the Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon show compared to the cost of "Game of Thrones" during its last season, according to the report.
Variety has previously reported that episodes from the last season of Game of Thrones cost $ 15 million each.
Apple did not immediately return a request for comment.
