The developer of the first-person shooter at the old-time, Ion Fury, has recently apologized after some of his staff members have published sexist and transphobic comments online and that a language Homophobe has been discovered in the game itself.
Voidpoint came under fire over the weekend after Twenty5Thousand, a ResetEra user, exposed the sexist and transphobic comments of the official Discord staff at Ion Fury.
Among the many comments criticized, we find this message from a developer who calls "terminx":
"Something I do not really understand about social justice, is that they have stuff like the 'slut walk' that I thought had the right not to be harassed for the way they dress but if you represent women dressed the same way shit for that. "
The official Voidpoint Twitter page was then dubbed, suggesting that Discord's comments were out of context because they had been Photoshopped.

Later, a homophobic language was found in Ion Fury itself. ResetEra's user, Flapjack21, found a piece in the game, accessible using a Noclip trick, which displayed the word "fagbag".
In other rooms easily accessible are bottles bearing the inscription "ogay" homophobe.
Eurogamer has contacted Realms 3D Editor Mike Nielsen for comments. Nielsen said that "all 3D Realms contracts will include terms allowing us to break the relationship if an entrepreneur violates our zero tolerance policy on hate speech."

"We learned that Voidpoint, the developers of Ion Fury, have been accused of making transphobic and misogynistic statements.
"Under his current leadership, 3D Realms is proud to empower marginalized groups, as evidenced by our strong female protagonist Shelly" Bombshell "Harrison and the makeup of our team.
"All 3D Realms contracts will include terms that allow us to sever relationships if an entrepreneur violates our zero tolerance policy on hate speech."
Eurogamer also contacted Voidpoint co-founders Evan Ramos and Richard Gobeille for their comments. They responded with a personal statement, apologizing for sexist and transphobic remarks and the homophobic language of Ion Fury. Voidpoint is also committed to adding a "mandatory sensitivity training" to all employees and contractors, and has announced that it would donate $ 10,000 of the proceeds from the Ion Fury release day. Trevor Project, an American non-profit organization focused on suicide prevention efforts in the LGBTQ community. Finally, the developer said that he would correct any "unacceptable language" in the game.

"Members of Voidpoint's Ion Fury team made sexist and transphobic comments, and included a homophobic language in Ion Fury.
"We recognize that these statements are insensitive, unacceptable and go against the causes of equality. We apologize unequivocally for these comments and comments, as well as for the suffering they have caused the community of players, especially women and members of the LGBTQ community. Full responsibility for any damage to the relationships for which we have worked so hard.
"In the future, Voidpoint will establish a zero-tolerance policy for this type of language and all employees and contractors will undergo mandatory awareness training as part of our efforts to contribute to the work that needs to be done to to further support these communities, we: we are also handing Ion Fury as soon as possible to remove any unacceptable language. "
Despite these statements, important questions remain unanswered. To date, Voidpoint has not detailed the disciplinary action taken against developers responsible for Discord comments or explained how unacceptable language was introduced into the game.
Ion Fury, who called Ion Maiden before an Iron Maiden lawsuit, is a fallout from the Bombshell shooter of 3D Realms. It's inspired by Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior and Blood – and was actually created with the help of an improved version of the legendary Build Engine of these games. It's the work of a group of fans and engine moders, the co-founders being at the helm of the project, while employing staff and subcontractors located in various parts of the world.
Recent developments cast a disturbing shadow on Ion Fury, who is also a brilliant shooter. As for Voidpoint, its reputation will be seriously damaged.
