The school condemns the video of his students doing the Nazi salute

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A school district in southern California has condemned a video of high school students hailing the Nazis and singing a Nazi song after it went public on Monday.

The video, obtained by the Daily Beast – which has released about 8 seconds – shows members of the Pacifica Boys Water Polo Team at Garden Grove in an empty room that, according to the administrative authorities, would have been used later for a sports banquet.

The song, written by the German composer Herms Niel during Hitler's ascent, was played to inspire Nazi troops during the Second World War.

The Garden Grove unified school district said in a statement that the footage was recorded last November but that the directors had not seen the video before March. He said that students were not supervised at the time. The district said Monday that the administrators had "treated the situation of all students and families concerned", without however specify the disciplinary measures taken.

"I think this indicates a shift in which even an obscure Nazi rhetoric (…) is now embedded on a highly fragmented internet," said Brian Levin, director of the study on Hate and Extremism at California State University San Bernardino.

Levin called it "disturbing" and said that these incidents are becoming more common as anti-Semitism goes online, especially in the "darker corners of the internet". ".

This is the second time that a high school Orange County is dealing with its students engaged in Nazi representations. School students from the Newport-Mesa Unified School District were suspended following an unrelated incident in March after posting photos showing that they were playing beer pong with goblets installed in swastikas.
