In 2014, Google purchased Nest, the manufacturer of smart home accessories, which announced a closer integration of the brand in its Google I / O hardware division this year, including the new Google Home Hub image in as long as Google Nest Hub and largest hub max nest. This new proximity, however, comes at a cost: Nest accounts migrate to Google accounts and the company abandons the Works with Nest API, thereby disrupting direct IFTTT integration with Nest products.

Before transferring Nest data to a Google Account, users will need to remove all existing connections from Works with Nest, making any IFTTT receipts involving Nest devices unusable. However, Nest will retain Google Assistant integration, so wizard routines with actions such as setting Nest Thermostats will still be possible. According to Nest's transition FAQ, preventing third parties from requesting direct access to Nest devices helps keep user data confidential.

There is no time limit for migrating Nest users to Google Accounts, but Works with Nest integrations will only run until August 31st at the latest. Nest notes, however, that some partners may terminate support earlier.
