When a marriage fails, never trust a single source to find out what's wrong. This is the impetus behind the two new teasers for Wedding story, the drama of writer-director Noah Baumbach with Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver who is bowing to Venice this month.
The two puzzles focus on a parent's story, one telling the other. Look at one above and the other below.
The film is described as the rapid and gradual tangle of impetuosity, resentment and lasting love between a married couple negotiating their divorce and guarding their son (Azhy Robertson). Driver plays Charlie, a 100% New York director; Johansson is Nicole, her main actress and ex-wife soon based in Los Angeles. Their "amicable" break is devolved, a painful ill-considered response and hostile retort at the same time, on a legal battleground led by Laura Dern and led by Laura Dern and Charlie and Alan by "kind" Alan Ray and "Not so nice" by Ray Liotta.
Merritt Wever and Julie Hagerty co-starring in the film, with Wallace Shawn, Martha Kelly and Mark O'Brien. David Heyman and Baumbach are the producers, along with Craig Shilowich, executive producer.
"The History of Marriage" was directed by Noah Baumbach as the centerpiece of the New York Film Festival
Take a look at the two teasers (one above and one below), choose one side or not, and tell us what you think.
