In an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper on Tuesday night, director Spike Lee said it was no longer a question of whether President Donald Trump was a white supremacist. Lee also described as "subterfuge" any attempt to contextualize Trump's remarks following Charlottesville.

"Respectfully, why are we still asking if this guy is a white supremacist?" I mean, it's even more of a question. "I'm talking about the Muslim ban, all Mexicans are rapists, murderers , drug traffickers, "said Spike Lee at Anderson Cooper 360."

"Do you think he's going to be re-elected?" Cooper asked.

"Can I kneel now and pray?" Lee replied.

"There is now a movement among the Republicans to rewrite the story of what the President said about people very well … Because the President told people very well on both sides, he was doing specifically referring to Friday night in Charlottesville, which is the night of the torch tiki [march]"Said Cooper.

"I do not buy it," Lee cut.

"You know what it is? Subterfuge. Shenanigans," he added.
