Bergeron wrote that at a luncheon with an executive producer of "Dancing With the Stars," he had made suggestions for season 28.

"The main one of them was my hope that DWTS, on its return from an unprecedented one year hiatus, would be a happy respite from our grueling political climate and that it would be free of any successful booking of any affiliation, "wrote Bergeron. "I left this lunch convinced that we were in agreement."

Bergeron did not mention Spicer directly, but, he noted in his post, the producers of the show decided "to go in a different direction".

"We can all agree not to agree, as we do now, but it's finally their call," he said. "I will let them answer any questions about these decisions."

At the announcement of the distribution of "Good Morning America Wednesday", Bergeron made a joke about Spicer.

"What's good is that Sean will be responsible for assessing the size of the audience," joked Bergeron, mocking the controversy surrounding the size of the crowd at the time. the inauguration of President Donald Trump in 2017.

The joke was not well told on social media, and some people are not happy with Spicer's addition to the cast.

"None of this is funny, this man has knowingly and blatantly lied to the American people in his official capacity as a servant of the government," a person tweeted. "He helped to create the atrocity that is still in. Shame on ABC."

CNN asked Spicer to comment.
