Ryan Fitzpatrick does not take homework for granted – ProFootballTalk

Everyone is ready to name Ryan Fitzpatrick on the opening day of the Dolphins, with the exception of the one who counts. Brian Flores insisted earlier this week that the starting quarter was still to be determined.

If that's the case, Josh Rosen will have another chance this week.

The job, however, seems to be Ryan Fitzpatrick's loss, even though he has only completed 5 of his 14 passes for 40 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions in two pre-season games.

He has lost more quarterback battles than he has won otherwise he would not be with his eighth team, but Fitzpatrick hopes to make an easy decision for Flores and not win the default position.

"Being a starting quarterback in this league, I think it's something you can never take for granted," said Fitzpatrick, 36, via Hal Habib, of Palm Beach Post. "There are a lot of people in the building, a lot in the locker room, a lot of fans who are counting on you to do your job. For me, that's the reason I'm still playing. This is a position I like. This is a position in which I like to be. I am excited to be able to participate in competitions to do so. "

The Dolphins will eventually face Rosen in the regular season to determine if they are their quarterback of the future or if they must write one in 2020. But Rosen lacks time to get the job of the first week.
