For the third time out of season, another former Stars player joins the Minnesota Wild.

On Wednesday, the Wild announced former Star winger Bill Guerin as the new general manager, joining Mike Modano and Mats Zuccarello as a trio of former stars to bring their talent to "The State of Hockey".

After a season of more than 41 goals in 2001-02 with the Boston Bruins, the Stars signed a five-year contract with Guerin. Guerin struggled in his first year in Dallas despite the success of his first-year coach Dave Tippett en route to a 111-point season that earned him the President's Trophy. In the second season of Guerin, he scored a career high of 69 points followed by a 40-point year in 2005-06.

After the 2005-06 season, the Stars bought out the last season of Guérin's contract. Guerin played the following season with the St. Louis Blues, where he was named All-Star of the Western Conference.

Guerin is the third player to have already competed for the Stars to join the Wild this season, and the second to join the office.

Mats Zuccarello signed a five-year deal worth $ 30 million on the first day of release, the same day the Stars signed Joe Pavelski and Corey Perry.

Former Stars defender Greg Pateryn is also part of the Wild's lineup, as well as Ryan Hartman, who the Stars have acquired and subsequently released for the off season.

Earlier in the off season, Mike Modano joined the Wild as an executive advisor, working on the Wild's business side. It will take office on 1 September, according to the team's website.
