The finish line is fast approaching, beta-nauts! We are in the development stage of iOS 13 where public and developer beta releases are released at a few hours interval instead of several days. With this in mind, iOS 13 Public Beta 7 is now available for download.
What's up
There is really nothing new to talk about this version. What you see in the UI is roughly what you will see when iOS 13 goes on sale in early September (probably around the September 10 iPhone event). & Nbsp;
If you have not yet had the opportunity to discover the new Apple CarPlay software in iOS 13, now is the time to do it. At the beginning of the beta, it was super buggy, with apps that crashed almost as often as they were launched. As recently as Public Beta 6there were strange behaviors and hiccups that made him a little less reliable than normal. & nbsp;
But now, with iOS 13 Public Beta 7, Apple CarPlay is gloriously smooth. The new dashboard is everything I've always wanted in the default interface. Similar to the Android Auto home screen, there is a large navigation map on the left, the current Play widget on the right, as well as appointment reminders and a widget. navigation allowing direct access to destinations or itineraries.
Throughout the interface, new updates and modifications facilitate the use of CarPlay while keeping your eyes on the road. I especially like the new Answer, Edit, and Play icons again when you dictate messages to Siri. Even the updated version of Siri in natural language helps you, giving you useful hints (for example, "turn left at the next traffic light") instead of robotic measurements ("in 200 meters, turn left"). & Nbsp;
What is fixed
There is nothing new resolved in the official release noteswhich makes me think that at this stage, the focus is on the backstage. There are always changes if you look closely (transparent farewell icons, we hardly knew it), but unless you work in the backend code, you will not see much thing.
What is broken & nbsp;
Unfortunately, the full list of Public Beta 6 last week is still valid for this week. If some of them change the game, you have to think twice before staying on the beta. & Nbsp;
- If you are in the beta version of the developer for watchOS 6, you must upgrade to version 2 or later, otherwise your iPhone running iOS 13 will not connect anymore.
- Searching in Notes can still produce unexpected results.
- The Offline Search feature of the Find My Application app is currently limited. & Nbsp;
- The following message may appear: "Unable to connect to iCloud" when creating a new Pages, Numbers, or Keynote document in a shared folder. Close and reopen the document to fix it.
- Localization bugs are detrimental to development, as always: Devices configured to use certain languages may have a truncated or misaligned layout or non-localized text. & Nbsp;
- If you enable sharing on multiple devices, Screen Time settings are not synced to iCloud until your iOS device has been rebooted. And be sure to do this because any changes you make to your screen time settings on this device before rebooting are lost. & Nbsp;
- Shortcut automations are temporarily unavailable.
- The complications disappear again from your Apple Watch if it does not work under watchOS 6 beta. Your mileage may vary depending on it. & Nbsp;
- Although Google Chromecast is still on the bug list, it is running quite regularly at this point. I think this bug is about to disappear.
- The Marriott Bonvoy app will not run. & Nbsp;
And after
We have a little less than three weeks left before the big iPhone, even on September 10th. That means at least three, or even four additional beta versions, before the public release of iOS 13. & Nbsp;
Expect the bug list to go down in the next few weeks, but as I said before, the UI changes should be pretty much complete for the moment. If you just want to get a glimpse of what's going to happen next month, this is the perfect time to see the beta. You can check how to register right here. & nbsp;
Let me know how you find iOS 13 on Twitter and I see you back next week!
