The PlayStation 5 will not be announced officially for several months and we are in more than a year of the expected release date for the console. Sony has confirmed the device specifications several times, without revealing its design. However, a Sony design patent discovered in Brazil shows the design of what could be the company's PS5 console. We showed you the rendering of Sony for this mysterious device, as well as all the evidence suggesting that this was the next PlayStation. Now, there seems to be more evidence that seems to reinforce this idea.
Game developer Matthew Stott, who is currently a senior artist at Codemasters based on his LinkedIn profile, posted the following message on Twitter (via Comic), before deleting the tweet.
The developer is referring to an article about the new Sony patent, saying his company already has PS5 development kits in his office. As you can see in the picture above, he adds that the patent shows a PS5 development kit, or even the console itself.
A different person involved in game development has released more pictures showing the PS5 development kit from different angles.
There is no guarantee that the PS5 shipped to buyers in the winter of 2020 will be identical to this so-called development kit. But this certainly looks like the patent filed by Sony in Brazil that shows a product design already used by the Japanese company and a design that is now linked to the PS5 by people familiar with Sony's projects.
The new PlayStation could be unveiled as early as next February, at a press event called PlayStation Meeting 2020. With the launch of the PS5, we will likely see more leaks that could confirm the design of the game. console well before Sony makes it official.
