Apple has advised owners of its new credit card to keep it away from leather and denim.

Keeping the card in a leather wallet or in the pocket of jeans can cause a "permanent discoloration".

The Apple Card is a white, relatively matte, titanium credit card designed to distinguish itself from other credit cards.

But people scoffed at the company after reading that the map could be so easily damaged.

Apple has released a guide telling customers how to safely "stow and transport" their Apple card.

The guide warns you that storing the card with other credit cards can scratch and damage it.

"I can say that two months after having the card in my leather wallet, she is not so pretty," said an Apple employee on Twitter.

Apple staff was able to sign up for the service before the general public.

It is currently available to Apple customers in the United States. A launch date for UK customers has not been announced.

Apple has already been criticized for making aesthetic products that are easy to damage in everyday use.

"When it's not in use, the Apple card should be brought back into a uniformly lit white cube," joked Alex Stamos, former head of security at Facebook.

The Apple Card was created with the help of Goldman Sachs and MasterCard.

It was announced in March as part of Apple's push toward services. The company also announced a new TV streaming platform, a games portal and an improved news application.
