Bose's new portable portable speaker features Google Assistant, Alexa and AirPlay 2

Bose just announced a surprise product: the portable home speaker, a $ 349 speaker with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that supports Google Assistant, Amazon's Alexa, AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect.

The new speaker looks a lot like a next-generation version of the company's SoundLink Revolve + from 2017, with a similar conical design for 360-degree audio output and an integrated carrying handle. Added Wi-Fi connectivity adds a host of new services that should make the portable home speaker much more versatile than just using a Bluetooth device.

The portable speaker at home is approximately 7.5 inches tall, four inches wide and weighs 2.3 pounds. Its aluminum housing has IPX4 water resistance (enough for occasional splashing or rain showers). It is charged via USB-C or with an optional $ 29 stand sold separately.

Bose also promises some smart connectivity features with its app: by using it, you can connect a multiroom audio system to other Bose smart speakers. Later this year, the company also promises an Ultimate Ears type configuration that will allow users to associate the home portable speaker with older products such as Micro, Color, Mini and Revolve. Next year, he will offer stereo pairing of two portable home speakers.

Of course, it is difficult to watch the portable speaker at home without thinking about the recently disclosed Sonos Move, Sonos' first Bluetooth speaker offering features almost identical to those of the Bose option, with Alexa, Google Assistant, Bluetooth and AirPlay 2, down.
