After American Airlines announced a major international expansion a few weeks ago, United Airlines has now announced an international expansion, including some pretty cool and creative routes.
Announcement of the new United Airlines route
United has seen incredible growth lately, thanks in part to many new long-haul flights.
Today, they announce their latest international growth, which includes new flights year-round, new seasonal flights and some seasonal flights that follow one another throughout the year. Although the main focus is on transatlantic flights, there are also other additions.
Impressively, this completes all the summer 2019 summer flights already offered by United: they do not cut any route. These are all additions that will be made possible by the new widebody aircraft they took delivery. United's itinerary planning staff is clearly very sharp.

Chicago to Zurich flight all year
Effective March 28, 2020, United will be offering a daily service year – round between Chicago and Zurich.. This will be operated by one of their 767-300 configured premium, featuring 46 Polaris seats.
United claims to have the largest number of flights from all US airlines in Switzerland and that Chicago United serves more international destinations year-round in Europe, Asia and South America than any other airline.
This will complement United's existing flights from Newark, San Francisco and Washington. In addition, Swiss also flies from Chicago to Zurich and is part of the same joint venture as United.
Seasonal flight from Newark to Nice
Beginning May 2, 2020, United will launch seasonal daily flights between Newark and Nice.. This flight will be operated with a Boeing 767-300 premium configuration, with 46 Polaris seats. This makes sense, since it is a high-end leisure market.
United will be in direct competition with Delta and The Company here. Delta operates this flight seasonally with a Boeing 767-400, while La Compagnie has operated it for the first time this season with a 757-200 in a 100% business configuration.
Seasonal flight from Newark to Palermo
Beginning May 20, 2020, United will be offering seasonal flights between Newark and Palermo.. It will be the only American airline serving Sicily, making it a pretty cool addition. Meridiana used to fly between Palermo and New York before being renamed Air Italy.
Seasonal flight from Newark to Curacao
As of December 7, 2019, United will offer seasonal flights for Saturday only between Newark and Curacao. The route will be operated by a Boeing 737-700 and will be United's 21st island destination in the Caribbean.
Denver in London: The flight begins at the year
United has launched seasonal flights between Denver and London from 2018. However, Effective November 1, 2019, United will offer year-round flights between Denver and London using a Boeing 787-8..
This will complement United's year-round service between Denver and Frankfurt and Tokyo.
The flight between San Francisco and New Delhi starts at the year
United has already announced that it will offer seasonal flights between San Francisco and New Delhi as of December 5, 2019. Well, United's new route between San Francisco and New Delhi will run year-round with a Boeing 787-9.
Frequency increase in Amsterdam and Frankfurt
As of March 28, 2020, United will be offering a second daily flight between Newark and Amsterdam and Frankfurt.:

- The second daily flight between Newark and Frankfurt will be operated by a 767-300 with 46 seats Polaris
Status of New Polaris Business Class Seats in the United States
Speaking of international routes, I thought it was logical to check the progress of the new Polaris seats. United announced for the first time its new Polaris business class concept in December 2016. What is the status of United aircraft with these new seats?
- At present, about one-third of United's wide-body aircraft has been reconfigured with the new seats
- By the end of the year, about 50% of all United's larger units will have new Polaris business class seats, though this number includes recently delivered aircraft (which United has received with these new seats).
- The first 787-8 and 787-9 should be reconfigured with the new Polaris cabs starting this year.

Reconfiguring a third of the aircraft in almost three years is not really impressive, if you ask me.

United New Route Summary
United M's road planners really impress. Not only have they tried new, really creative routes (including very long-haul flights, which are notoriously difficult to generate profits), but they have succeeded in every way.
They do not cut a single route they have already added and continue to expand their international network. In the end, nothing is too shocking here, in my opinion, although there are still some really creative ways.
It's also cool to see United's 767 super premium planes operate premium summer seasonal flights, rather than just the commercial markets like Newark in London.
