Governor of Washington State, Jay Inslee, retired from the Democratic race at the White House.
Mr Inslee made the fight against climate change his number one priority, but failed to attract national support.
He announced that he would rather seek a third term as governor of the northwestern United States.
He is the latest candidate to drop out after former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper and California Congressman Eric Swalwell.
Mr. Inslee announced his decision on MSNBC on Wednesday night, telling presenter Rachael Maddow that he "was becoming clear" that he would not be elected president.
"I will not be the president, so I'm going out tonight of the race," he said.
Mr Inslee said that he would not support another candidate yet, but pledged to help any Democratic candidate "eliminate the climate". [Donald Trump] of the White House ".

Inslee had recently secured the 130,000 donors needed to participate in the debate next month, but had not passed the 2% threshold of electors required for an invitation to debate.
His electoral struggles also prevented him from attending an event at CNN's town hall on climate change, his main problem.
Mr. Inslee was an accomplished congressman and a popular governor. It seems that Washington will succeed in keeping him in his governorship.
Although he has managed to gather the necessary donors to participate in the next debate, he has failed to question more than 1% of the vote and will therefore have no other chance to participate in the debate.
He has the kind of curriculum vitae that would have made him a prominent candidate – governors who love to show off their executive talents – but times have changed.
On Thursday, former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper announced that he was running in the US Senate.
Mr. Hickenlooper left last week.
