Former Texas A & M player Luke Laufenberg, the son of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Babe Laufenberg, died Thursday morning after losing his fight against cancer. He was 21 years old.
Luke Laufenberg has battled Burkitt's lymphoma since his diagnosis on December 26, 2017, just weeks after the end of his first season at Mesa Community College. He had been very tight at A & M in 2016 after playing at Argyle Liberty Christian and a high school Jesuit.
Luke Laufenberg was declared free from cancer in May 2018, just days before his 20th birthday, and was awarded a scholarship for UTEP in January 2019, before returning to school after a year of 39, no. He was online for a starting role for the Miners this fall.
His cancer recurred in April, according to a statement from the Laufenberg family, and he was informed last month that his condition was terminal, leaving him only a few weeks to live.
"He treated the news with a strength of character and gentle demeanor that will always inspire his family, friends, coaches, doctors and treatment staff from the Dallas Children's Medical Center," said the family. in a statement.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett did not answer questions during his Thursday morning press conference, but instead paid a moving tribute to Luke Laufenberg's life.
Luke Laufenberg will be sadly missed by his parents Babe and Joan and his brother Joe Willie.
