TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A former linebacker to the Florida State National Championship football team in 1993 was sentenced to 54 months in jail and must pay more than $ 1 million in compensation after pleading guilty in the beginning of the year for tax evasion.

The US District Attorney's Office in the North District of Florida announced his sentence on Thursday, about four months after Kenneth Alexander, a remarkable 46-year-old man, signed an advocacy agreement with federal prosecutors.

Alexander is the owner of Wizard Business Center, a tax preparation company in Tallahassee. According to the authorities, Alexander has been preparing and filing false income tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service for various people between 2012 and 2016.

Alexander was a starting linebacker when Florida State defeated Nebraska in the 1993 Orange Bowl, giving the Seminoles their first national title.

This story was corrected to reflect the fact that the state of Florida won its first national championship by beating Nebraska at the Orange Bowl of the 1993 season, which took place on January 1, 1994.
