A Michigan man faces murder charges after his three dogs brutally attacked and killed a 9-year-old girl in Detroit earlier this week.
Pierre Cleveland, 33, was charged with second degree murder, manslaughter and creating a dangerous animal causing death, Wayne County Attorney's Office announced.
The vicious attack took place around 4 pm. On Monday. The girl, Emma Hernandez, was cycling in an alley near her home in Detroit when three pit bulls attacked her.
A passer-by shot down one of the dogs while a medical team was trying to rescue the girl in an alley.
The neighbors threw bricks at the dogs in an attempt to stop the attack, police said.
"She had bite marks in other parts of her body," said a neighbor at Fox 2 in Detroit.
Detroit Animal Care and Control said the other dogs were in his possession and would probably be euthanized.
"What hurts me most is that I can not imagine the pain she suffered after being attacked by these dogs until her death," said her father, Armando Hernandez, at Fox 2 .
