Before the finale of Thursday's Citi Field series, the Indians tweeted a message to their fans that also contained what some – including some of the Mets players – saw as a boost at the Mets.
"We did not eliminate a deficit of 11.5 games to go in. We shared a series with one of the best home MLB teams," said part of the tweet. "We lost the last 2 to the benefit of a marginal playoff team."
It's a long season.

The dishes technically are a "post-season team," as they are 1.5 games from second place in Wild Card.
But the tweet could have been seen as a glance at the Mets, and two of their players returned to Cleveland after New York finished their three-game sweep Thursday night.
"We have FRINGE for you here, we call them a SWEEP in New York. #LFGM," Noah Syndergaard tweeted while citing tweeting the original tweet of "the playoff team in the sidelines" of the Indians.
Marcus Stroman then quote Twitter Syndergaard tweet to pound the point.

The most ironic part of all this is that by being swept by the Mets, the Indians have lost their place in the playoffs in the American League and are now trailing the half-match Rays for second place in Wild Card. .
This means that the Indians are now, literally, a marginal team in the post-season.
