The series will be produced by Laurence Fishburne and Cinema Gypsy Productions (Black-ish), Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment by Helen Sugland and Steve Loter (Kim Possible). Jeff Howard (Planes) and Kate Kondell (The Pirate Fairy) are co-producers and story editors.
"As an avid comic book enthusiast, I'm excited to participate in Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur activities," Fishburne said in the Disney press release. "Disney Channel is the perfect platform to explore this small African-American superhero and I can not wait for its audience to enjoy the light adventures of Lunella and Devil Dinosaur."
Cort Lane, senior vice president of Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment, said: "Lunella does not know that she is the smartest person on the planet, but the public will soon know how great Moon Girl is. His adventures with his giant friend Devil Dinosaur are filled with wonder and joy, and this historic partnership with Disney Television Animation and Cinema Gypsy Productions has proven to be the right way to get them on television. "
While Devil Dinosaur debuted in a series of eponymous comics in 1978, Moon Girl is a more recent addition to the Marvel universe. Marvel started publishing Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur in 2016, and this series quickly became a popular title for all ages.
Moon Girl is also on our list of young Marvel characters able to fill the void left by Spider-Man when leaving MCU.
