Rey's characterization is eager to learn, but lacks the competitive intensity of Anakin (Hayden Christensen) and Luke's impatience (Mark Hamill). The scenery surrounding Rey in this latest teaser moment appears as a cave, although it may also be the interior of a damaged Star Destroyer. If it's a vision of a possible future, does that mean it's Rey's dream? Maybe it's Kylo's vision, Luke's warning or Palpatine's manipulation, to show him what will happen if he gets away from the dark side and how another, worst of all, gets up to its place.
Some hope that Kylo will be redeemed, but perhaps this redemption comes from the fact that he is convinced to turn his back on the light and sacrifice himself on the dark side to prevent the emperor from seducing Rey. But why would Rey need Kylo to save her from the dark side, you might wonder? Let's not forget Palpatine's ability to create life from the Force. It's very involved in The revenge of the Sith (2005) that he created Anakin. It is not impossible that Rey is Palpatine's second attempt, and the mother who brought her to Jakku was only a ship, like Shmi Skywalker (Pernilla August). Rey's vision in the cave of mirrors when she was looking for answers, did not show junkers, but only Rey. It is possible that Kylo told the truth by saying that her parents were nothing, because the story of her creation is the one that hides in the secrets of the Force.
One last detail to note at this late moment is that Rey wears Leia's ring (Carrie Fisher). Does this mean that Leia's death was the reason why Rey turned to the dark side or that Rey killed him? Leia wears the ring in her right hand, but Rey to the left, a reference to the idea that the left hand is sinister. If this moment is not a vision of strength, then perhaps Rey simply presents himself as a Sith to convince Palpatine to have turned his head, manipulating the great manipulator. Whatever the truth revealed, there is a good chance that Rey's journey does not end in her becoming a Sith. But the idea and the images that are hidden there are interesting enough to entertain and add another level of anticipation to The rise of Skywalker.
