Dear me 20 years in the future,
I hope you are fine! I know that this is how I start all my emails, but I sincerely hope so, in this case.
As you may recall, 20 years ago it was announced that Richard "should have won several Oscars for School of rock«Linklater would adapt the musical Stephen Sondheim We ride happily over the next two decades. It's like an über-Childhood, which tells the story of a boy who grows between 6 and 18 – and who actually follows a young single man, Ellar Coltrane, during these 12 years.
If you are reading this at the right time (and Linklater is not dead[[[[make the sign of the cross]), you will probably have already seen the trailer, with Ben Platt playing Franklin Shepard, a famous songwriter, and Beanie Feldstein playing Mary Flynn, theater critic and Shepard's best friend.
The reason for this two-decade wait, of course, is that the musical itself takes place over 20 years, recounting how much Shepard went from penniless composer to god of gold. Linklater plans to stay true to this timeline.
If the planet has not melted yet, I hope to see you again in 20 years!
Love,
Me
