Constance Wu also explained what she felt when she tweeted a reaction raising her eyebrows about some good news apparently earlier this year.
In May, the actor went on social media to express his disappointment at the renewal of the television series "Fresh Off The Boat", in which she plays the role of Jessica Huang.
She apologized after facing an immediate reaction on Twitter and issued a statement in which she explained that she liked the series, but that this renewal involved the abandonment of a another project that really fascinated her.
Wu also regretted at the time to be insensitive to those who struggled, noting that she "also had a habit of being in this fight".
In an interview published Thursday by the Los Angeles Times, Wu revealed that the project in question was a play and that she had to give up the role of potential director due to her contract with the series.

"I had this hot moment when I got angry because I had to give up a job I wanted and had been chasing for a while," she said, calling the whole event social media. "Twitter fiasco".
Wu told the Times that she had received messages of support from those present at the time. She said, "Just so you know, we love you and we know who you are and you deserve nothing from that kind of thing.
"Because they also know that I'm an actress, I can be dramatic," Wu said.
She added that the whole debacle had made her understand what it meant to be a public figure and made her understand how much her platform was achieving her goals: "I do not think I understood that people were paying so much attention to my Twitter . "
Wu, who starred Rachel Chu in "Crazy Rich Asians," the first major Hollywood film with a predominantly Asian cast for 25 years, will feature in the upcoming Hustlers movie.
She will play Destiny alongside a cast of stars including Jennifer Lopez, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Julia Stiles, Lizzo and Cardi B.
"I was looking for a film with a deeply lonely character," Wu told the Times about his upcoming role in the film, due out in September.
She then referred to her controversy on Twitter as "Fresh Off The Boat" and said she would "be careful not to blow up" her profile in the future.
"It's not the part of myself in which I'm trying to put energy … but it's learning me."
