Report: Chiefs Sign Offensive Midfielder LeSean McCoy

Kansas City Chiefs sign the free agent LeSean McCoy, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN. The Buffalo Bills released their half-offensive as part of the reduction of their 53-man squad earlier Saturday.

McCoy, 31, joins the head coach who picked him up in Philadelphia in 2009: Andy Reid. And there is an extra bonus for fans of chefs, by Schefter – the chefs diverted him from division rival Los Angeles Chargers.

Chief Executive Brett Veach spoke to the media shortly after the downsizing of Saturday's 53-man lineup, and was asked about signing McCoy. Although he could not comment directly before the publication became official through the NFL, it seemed rather interesting.

In 13 starts last season, McCoy rushed 161 times for 514 yards (3.2 yards per attempt) and three touchdowns. He also had 34 receptions for 238 yards. McCoy was named All-Pro twice – in 2011 on Reid and in 2013, his best season as a professional, when he overshadowed 2,000 yards of the scrum and totaled 11 touchdowns.

McCoy's position in a young and talented gaming room should prove interesting. Damien Williams still stands as the starter with Darwin Thompson in the mix, and this addition probably hurts Darrel Williams.

Reid said he would set up a return procedure to the committee on August 9th. McCoy's signature gives him one more reason.

The leaders will probably reveal who they released in order to make room for McCoy when the agreement will become official.
