The list of Sears and Kmart stores that are closing is growing. In early August, the parent company announced that 21 Sears stores and 5 Kmart stores would be closed in October. TransformCo is now planning to close nearly 100 other stores, United States today reports by the end of the year. The company did not publish a total, but employees and buyers report news from each store. The sites, including the delay, keep track. One provider said that 80% of Sears head office staff in Illinois had been laid off, Forbesand a California store employee who was not on a closures list said the store was going to close.

The company said in the last round that several closures were possible. "Our goal remains to bring the company back to profitability and preserve as many jobs as possible in the communities we serve," said Aug. 7. At the time, TransformCo reported having approximately 380 stores in operation. Liquidation sales in additional stores could begin in a few weeks. (Read more stories from Sears.)
